Wisconsin Student Assessment System Scores Released

Thank you to all staff for your commitment to our district! Each of you reading this in the School District of Waukesha, takes seriously the opportunity and responsibility to make a positive impact on students, every, single day. I am thrilled to include our press release as part of this communication to you.
As you know, over the past two years our Board of Education has approved funding for the purchase of new curricular resources in many areas across our system. As I visit classrooms, I see evidence that our students are engaging in these standards-aligned, grade level expectations, because of your intentional planning to guarantee the academic rigor necessary for our students to be successful.
Our lagging data points are showing positive progress and achievement data shows increases across all areas. Your hard work and commitment to improving student outcomes for all students is impressive. Let’s keep this going! Together, we are making an impact!

The Department of Public Instruction has released the Spring 2022 Wisconsin Forward Exam, Dynamic Learning Maps, and ACT exam results.

The Wisconsin Forward Exam and Dynamic Learning Maps are proctored annually in the following grades and subject:
Forward Exam

• Grades 3-8; measures performance in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics

• Grades 4 and 8; measures performance in science

• Grades 4, 8, and 10; measures performance in social studies
  
  

Dynamic Learning Map

• DLM is an alternative assessment for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities in
  grades 3 -11 for a continued measure of learning.

The scores below represent the Wisconsin Forward Exam and Dynamic Learning Maps data.

• English & Language Arts (ELA) for all students on the Forward Exam and DLM for students in grades 3-8, the percentage of students proficient and advanced increased to 37.7% from 35.3% in 2020-21.
  
  

• Math for all students in grades 3-8 on the Forward Exam and DLM, the percentage of students proficient and advanced increased to 40.3% from 37.4% in 2020-21. 

 

• Science for all students in grades 4 and 8 on the WI and DLM, the percentage of students proficient and advanced increased to 48.8% from 44.7% in 2020-21.
  
  

• Social Studies is assessed in grades 4, 8 and 10. In 2020-21, the standards for social studies were changed, as a result, trend data is unavailable at the state and district level.

The School District of Waukesha scores above the state average in English Language Arts, math, and science.

ACT Scores

• Our Average ACT Composite score for 2021-22 was the same as the state average with a score of 19.3. For the SDW this average composite is higher than our 2020-21 average composite of 18.9.

• The ACT reports college readiness benchmark scores, a minimum score needed on an ACT subject area test to indicate a 50% chance of obtaining a B or higher or about a 75% chance of obtaining a C or higher in corresponding credit-bearing college courses. The benchmark score for English is 18, Mathematics, 22, Reading, 22 and Science 23. Thirty-one, (31%) percentage of students in SDW met college readiness benchmark scores in three of the four subject areas. 

• Furthermore, in the SDW we proudly celebrate the 44 students who scored a 30 or higher on the ACT.
